Working for BESIX Watpac, Outside Ideas undertook what was at the time our largest single contract in Victoria to date.
Deakin University included a significant structural concrete package, delivering a structural concrete slab for the cafe, in situ concrete walls and stairs, precast seating, 5000 square metres of wet lay paving, and soft landscaping to the $110 million new Deakin Law School building at the Burwood Campus.
One of the points of focus for this project was to provide ample space for students and staff to use for recreation and relaxation. The Wellness Garden created by Outside Ideas on Level 5 is a peaceful and picturesque area, perfect for unwinding.
Working to a tight program from September 2019 until July 2020, construction peaked with more than 40 employees and subcontractors on site delivering the landscaping works. This was an important project for Outside Ideas and was also our first major contract for BESIX Watpac in Melbourne.
