It was an honour to be involved in the redevelopment of the popular RACV Cape Schanck Resort, which sits right on the waterfront at Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. Landscape Plus was awarded the soft landscaping package by Kane Constructions, which was completed over 14 months from mid-2017 to mid-2018. Landscape Plus also maintained the site for 3 months after the project was completed.

The scope of work included a large curved spotted gum deck that abuts the main resort building, rockwork and soil improvement, as well as the installation of hundreds of lineal metres of FormBoss steel edging and over 20,000 plants. To prepare the sandy local soil for planting, Landscape Plus brought in 20 tonne excavators and moxys to turn over the topsoil and ameliorate it by mixing in organic compost. The team also installed the lawn bowls courts and playground area, including a large jumping pillow and shade sails.

A large number of plants were installed on a steep hillside; planting in a marine environment in sandy soil is a challenge in itself, let alone installing plants on an exposed hillside in a windy location. Approximately $200,000 worth of irrigation was installed by Landscape Plus to create a large irrigation system to supply the entire resort.

The revamped Cape Schanck Resort was delivered by Kane Constructions in March 2018 and has since won several major state and national awards for construction and architectural design excellence, most notably the 2019 Master Builders Victoria Master Builders Award (collected by Kane Constructions).
