From February to November 2024, Landscape Plus completed the Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project for John Holland and the North Western Program Alliance. This project encompassed landscaping works to East Pakenham Station and Pakenham Corridor, covering multiple locations across 2.5km of rail adding up to an area of more than 75,000 square metres. Working on this high profile site was a great opportunity for Landscape Plus to demonstrate our capabilities in both hard and soft landscaping on a large scale.

This project involved the planting of 65,000 plants and trees, extensive garden bed and lawn area preparation, root barrier installation, turfing and hydroseeding, garden edging and mulching, swale construction, and rock walling. Landscape Plus also poured 4,000 square metres of concrete pavements (including the construction of Ryan Road SUP) and installed sports courts and equipment, as well as insitu curved concrete seating and custom furniture. The sequencing of works and movement of soil was critical on this project due to limited egress and narrow design layout.

Landscape Plus was involved in the McGregor Road rail occupation where we undertook 24-7 shifts and carefully managed resourcing to meet the requirements to fit in with the John Holland Group civil works team. To ensure compliance with Track Force Protection requirements, additional site management was provided for the duration of this project. We worked closely with our social procurement partners YMCA ReBuild to assist in all softscape elements. Pakenham LXRP was also a valuable opportunity for us to provide our apprentices with more than 3,000 hours on site.
